Product Download Instructions The VPARS and VTAPE install and update files are available for download from our VM FTP site. The install files for each release of z/VM are packed into a single VMARC file. All VSSI customers have been assigned a userid and password for access to this facility. You can request your userid and password by sending a request to support@vsoftsys.com. You will receive email supplying you with your_VSSI_userid and password required to complete the download procedure. Download the product files from VSSI: FTP to: ftp.vsoftsys.com USER: your_VSSI_userid PASSWORD: your_VSSI_password BINARY LS GET ZVMver.ppppvvnn (get VSSI product package) Where ver specifies the applicable z/VM package release (e.g., ZVM620 is applicable to z/VM 6.2.0) pppp is VPVT for VPARS/VTAPE, or VT for VTAPE-only vv is the product version (e.g., 55 for Version 55) nn is the product build level (even for VPARS, odd for VTAPE – get the latest) CD your_userid.192 (license file disk) GET cnnnn.vmarc (get VSSI license file) Where c specifies P for VPARS/VTAPE licensees, T for VTAPE-only licensees nnnn is the same as digits 3-6 of your VSSI user ID (e.g., if your user ID is VP109801, nnnn = 1098) QUIT Once you have the VMARC file on your VM system, enter the following command to make sure VMARC can unpack it: PIPE < fn ft fm | fblock 80 00 | > fn ft fm f 80 If you do not have VMARC available on your system, it can be downloaded from the VSSI FTP site. See the instructions at the bottom of this page. To install your newly downloaded VMARC file, please use any "VPARS and VTAPE Installation Guide" dated on or after 12/01/2011. See VSSI Documentation. Download VMARC: There are 2 files associated with VMARC on the VSSI FTP site. These files are in CMS packed format. To download these files do the following steps: FTP to ftp.vsoftsys.com USER: your_VSSI_userid PASSWORD: your_VSSI_password BINARY GET VMARC.MODULEP GET VMARC.HELPCMSP To reformat the files for CMS use: PIPE < VMARC MODULEP fmi | fblock 1024 00 | unpack | > VMARC MODULE fmo PIPE < VMARC HELPCMSP fmi | fblock 1024 00 | unpack | > VMARC HELPCMS fmo where fmi represents the input filemode and fmo is your target output filemode. NOTE: VMARC is a public domain utility to store files in a compressed format. You may use it at your site for other purposes as long as it meets the copyright notice found in the module.
